Now a days Ages topic is very important in all competitive exams. In this lesson you are going to understand this topic very easily by seeing the below figure.I will explain you whole topic in 3 points. If you understand those 3 points you will solve the all problems very easily.

Lets consider the one person name is Ram. I will explain you three points by using above fig. Consider for all problems same as below.

1. Present age of Ram is x
2. n years ago Ram age is x-n
3. n years after Ram age is x+n \n years since Ram age is x+n

Example:


The present age of sai is x . What is the age of sai 3 years ago?
Ans:


Present age is x

3 years ago is x-3

Example:
The present age of sai is x . What is the age of sai 3 years after?
Ans:

Present age is x

3 years ago is x+3

Example:

Five years ago the age of Raghu is 13 . what is his present age?

Ans:

Consider


Present age of Raghu is x

Five years ago his age is x-5

According to the question x-5 =13

                                             X= 13 +5 =18

Example:

If the Kartik age is age is after 3 years 10 times his age 6 years back. Then what is his present age.

Ans:

Consider present age is x

After 3 years his age is x+3

6 years back his age is x-6

According to the question Kartik age is age is after 3 years 10 times his age 6 years back

x+3 =10(x-6)

x+3 = 10x-60

60+3 = 10x-x

63=9x

x=63/9

x=7

present age is x=7

Example:

The Sum of ages of a father and son is 45 years. Five years ago, the product of their ages was four times the father’s age at that time. What is the present age of the father.

Ans:

Consider the present age of father is x

                   present age of son is y

given that x+y =45

Five years ago, the product of their ages was four times the father’s age at that time

(x-5)(y-5)=4(x-5)

y-5=4,y=4+5, y=9

x+y=45, x+9=45

x=45-9

x=36
